My Coupe project, started at last!!!
Ok then, today at last I finally got to starting my project by the time I had got it moved to the unit I only had about an hour, so haven't done much. I'll try and keep a log of everything I do as i go along. So this is how it started! it's a long way from the cleanest of cars, but I have plans

Then once I got started with some spanners it looked a bit more like this.

had another half hour session today, got a litttle bit more off and it now looks like this.

and i found this thing that I don't remember seeing on my golf pre R32, I just wondered what it is, it has vaccum hoses and a pipe that looks like it goes to the tank. The tubular looking thing that is in my passenger (right hand side) wing.

Re: My Coupe project, started at last!!!
It was on ebay a few months ago. got it for a grand I think, paint is terrible, and there is a few minor rust patches that need attention but no biggy. It's got all kinds of wierd things on it, extra bits of metal for strength.
yesterday I had ben helping me, and with a bit off messing we pulled the poopy engine out

then after getting up at 4.30 this morning to run my housemates to the airport, I got home by 6.00 and was wide awake so nipped to the unit for early morning dirty hands
looking less wirey

Re: My Coupe project, started at last!!!
oh yeah i forgot to say, pretty much everything that is coming off is for sale (bumpers already gone so don't ask). I'm converting it to RHD too so if you've got a lefty and you're stuck for parts, I might be able to help.

Re: My Coupe project, started at last!!!
Defo keep us posted on the right to left conversion bud are you gonna be tracking the car or using her as a daily when done mate?
Re: My Coupe project, started at last!!!
left to right will be pretty straight forward tbh, I'm just going to take everything off the golf.
The challenge will be building my own msa spec cage, and moving everything back so I sit almost in the back seat! It'll be an out and out track car by the time I'm done. I'll still keep it road legal though, it's to much money to spend not to be able to drive it when ever I want. Not to mention fun going out and making ferraris look slow!! lol

Re: My Coupe project, started at last!!!
Sweet another 2 door what year is yours? If your getting rid of the lhd stuff I'll take the bit that goes behind the center vents and the linkage from the rack to the column. Oh and what do you want for the mirrors or just the Glass for them?
