Ita not cheapest but when you consider how easy the the plastic linkages break once they get old it does redeem itself, improves the gear change as well, make sure you replace the bolt i mentioned earlier and buy decent bushes ie dealers same for the relay shaft i bought one of ebay and its naff to say the least, I'll have a look for some injector lines think i might have some spare buried in my garage

How to scare yourself
Just in case any of you are using BF Goodrich tyres check your sidewalls mine was in good condition with no cracks visible and this happened a couple of weeks back

Thankfully I'm still in one piece and so is the car might of been a different story if this had happened on a motorway and not an A road

That's not much good mate, glad no one suffered any damage. I run BF Goodrich tyres but haven't had any problems and actually find them very good. Bit of an odd one after seeing the above, but where abouts did you get them from ? struggling to find a supplier of their car tyres.

Re: Back on the Road for 2014
Alright dude, the fuel lines arrived last Thursday!:-) and I added the newish and cleaned up injectors to them. Im just waiting for the new fuel pump to rock up so I can check the the injectors are good before popping them back in! And I also fitted the tsr gear linkage and although abit dubious about the I'm well impressed with how much they tighten up the gear change so a thanks for that one aswell.

Little update thought i'd spruce up the dials wasn't the best fitting kit as you can see from the odometer on the speedo and the fixing holes on the rev counter I've since seen a better kit on ebay which i'm gonna go for
gave the needles a coat of candy red as well

I've recently been addicted to changing nuts and bolts for stainless where suitable[LOL] I've had more exhaust woes thanks to the bodge job on the manifold flexi by a local powerflow agent, while the exhaust was in bits I decided to bite the bullet and change the cup and ball on the bottom of the gearstick and also the bush on its housing to help improve the gearshift some more
knackered old ones
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
new replacements
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Feels even tighter than before so worth it for the scraped knuckles.
Have finally got exhaust system in one piece now so back on the road now, did this recently one of those modifications you either love or hate, i've succumbed to the dinoc vinyl trend i'm quite pleased with the results though and it does become a little addictive as well, let me know what you think peeps
passenger side handles the rear drivers handle and winder cover are already on the car

mirror covers and drivers handle
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
might do the bottom half of the B pillar plastics next also need to sort a new front grill due after killing this one leaning into the bay whilst battling the exhaust after an original 3 slat if anyones got a spare they want to part with and after selling the bumpers off my black one for a stupidly low price I now need a rear bumper due to a bit of a heat incident

Thanks guys
Got to work yesterday and found my grill badge had gone walkies but I did manage to fit the new lower trim
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
just the covers for the headlight adjusters and a new foglight needed to finish off the front end and I've found a local company that does powdercoating that can do my wheels and a few other bits for me

Re: Back on the Road for 2014
hey dude, hows thing going? euro car parts have grill badges for a few quid each, might be worth stocking up!lol!
i love the led dash lights, ive had a set for mine for ages but i haven't the slightest clue how to fit them, the sight of resistors and wires scare me!lol!
love how your jetta is coming on, amazing what hard work and elbow grease applied generously on a bargain from ebay can result in!

I like the vr6 splitter looks good. Its annoying when people nick stuff off your car. I love my center cap the other days. Only had the wheels on the car a few days.

Re: Back on the Road for 2014
Had a car day on saturday in the lead up to Ultimate dubs and got a few bits done before a big cleaning session
Fresh set of plugs heres the old ones past their best I reckon
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I'd had a problem with the right hand corner of the front bumper dropping since I've owned the car due to a bust clip heres the temporary repair/bodge I did when the bumper was off last
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Finally got a new genuine clip and set about fitting it, was actually quite easy just need to be patient and not too heavy handed, aided by the fiancee's hairdryer heres end result
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Replaced the fuel tank straps for stainless steel ones
old
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
new
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
All this was rounded off with a good cleaning session finished hoovering it out just as it was getting dark
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Bought some sound proofing material at UD so that jobs up next followed by some sprucing up in the engine bay hopefully for spring festival, let me know what you think[]

Re: Back on the Road for 2014
Changed the nasty self adjusting clutch cable yesterday for a manual one in my lunchbreak got some funny looks from the guys next door to my work doesn't sound like I'm trying to select reverse without pressing the clutch anymore Decided today I'd had enough of the reverse rake that I'd been left with since replacing the helper springs last year there was a difference on nearly an inch and a half front to back
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
After a little bit of jiggery pokery please excuse the shoddy pic next ones even worse I phones don't do night time pictures but it shows things a bit more level
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.] next job is the sound deadening I mentioned and swapping over the front carpet

Re: Back on the Road for 2014
Took the old girl to spring fest at the weekend with my knackered paint and odd coloured wheels for all to see lol had a couple of goes on the dizze rascal track and a few runs on 1/4 mile had a best time of 16.5 not bad considering its only got a 4 branch, k&n filter and a lightened flywheel for engine mods, heres a pic from my best run I found on facebook
