Re: Ants 86 Jetta GTi Engineering with a twist
Guys its not all that. Not like it got loads of attention or comments at santa pod on its first outing in march or anything!!!! I hope in text you can detect sarcasm and jealousy. Really pleased with the way your car is coming along Ant and very envious.

Thank you for the comments guys i wander what reception itll get at Stoner
Re: Ants 86 Jetta GTi Engineering with a twist
i recon you should set up some sort of letter to mags to bring back the GT Engineering.
can see mag feature coming with that its pretty different and i don't think many will know much about it

Re: Ants 86 Jetta GTi Engineering with a twist
Gutted next time she comes out she will have a VW in the grill and let this be a warning to all, my FK debadged grill is warped due to the intense heat from the air and rad at Stoner on Sunday and she seems to have swallowed alot of oil its barely registering on the dipstick.
I dont get it check this
No leak
No Black, Blue or white smoke
So where in hell has the oil gone?? she shot out shed loads of soot out of the exhaust today could this be to do with the cat if indeed it is a cat that the GT has ive looked on Ebay Etka and Etos and its not what ide call cat prices. Now mine is item 6 only it it prices at 15 - 30 quid
Im so confused

Re: Ants 86 Jetta GTi Engineering with a twist
Your car won't have a cat, its way too early. The first cars to get cats in the UK were Ventos. Corrados with the 9A running KEjet injection were the only mechanical injection type to take cats. £10 sounds about right.
Put a clean hanky over the end of the tailpipe and go for a drive, that'll tell you if its throwing out any oil.
TBH, it could be down to the oil weight. Hot ambient temps means the oil will do a massive amount of mechanical cooling but if it isn't thick enough it will quickly burn off. For an older engine you'll need a good quality semi synth, VW Synta 10W40.

I thought as much what do you recon the high pitch rattle could be I figured it was a cat making the noise it tends to come in at around 2500/3000 rpm

Re: Ants 86 Jetta GTi Engineering with a twist
Nope i found the culprit and im just gonna have to live with it
Re: Ants 86 Jetta GTi Engineering with a twist
Right ive had it with the standard 1.8 the oil pressure lights on now so gonna check the switches etc but not holdin up to much hope for it and not really gonna dig too deep if ya know what i mean.
Ive got the VR bug so on the look out for a Mk3 golf VR spares or repair as a doner any one know of one?
Also there is probably gonna be a spare place on the stands for the rest of the season as i will have run my doe dry once ive bought the doner.
