Re: Ants 86 Jetta GTi Engineering with a twist
Yep, i saw the mention in PVW as well. Interesting that you fitted a different dash. i thought you would have stuck to the original look, but guess you kinda moved away from that when you fitted the VR!

Re: Ants 86 Jetta GTi Engineering with a twist
Well i failed to even clean the car at Spring festival but now my first show has come and gone ill reveal all on the interior. But first one of these for good measure

I wanted to be diferent with this rather then the plain old Mk3dash so i did a little investigateing to see what vehicles are built on the Mk2 chassis (this would mean minimal work). Low and behold i came across one of these
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Yep i know what you are all thinking its far better than it sounds the work load lightend due to the fact tha the whole Mk3 loom ran with Mk2 switch gear
Here it is in situe in a Toledo
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
well here ya go we had to cut of roughly 2 inches from the rear of the dash for it even to fit this is because the toledo has no scuttle pannel as you can see the first ledge in the toledo below is where the Jetta window starts.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
also the a pillar is much thicker
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
And here is the initial fitting
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Hmm looking good me thinks you will notice in the next pic there is only space for a single din head unit now i know im supposed to be keeping this car stock i came to the decision when the old engine blew id keep the special eddition part standard (all the GTI Engineering stuff) the rest is rife for changing. I even changed the new dash slightly as im a double din man so heres how the dash looked with the clocks and shroud before modification
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
and heres the shroud after
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
and fiited
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
You will also notice my Mk3 VR clocks as seen before fitted perfectly into the Seat dash
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Only minor modifications for that one
and heres the finnished product
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Well i hope you like ive also got the luxury of a hight adjustable stearing column now aswell
Let me know what you think i have more updates to follow

Re: Ants 86 Jetta GTi Engineering with a twist
Not to sound like im blowing smoke up ya but, i really like it, it doesnt look so modern that it looks to out of place but it still suits the VR clocks the only thing im not sure about is the double din headunit im just not sure on the size of it. All in all top work chap i applaud anyone that is propaired to think out side the box well done a big thumbs up from me
Re: Ants 86 Jetta GTi Engineering with a twist
You took the words out of my mouth Alex!!
Not sure on where the headunit goes into the vents, think i would of stuck with single DIN, but the headunit looks flash, so probably worth the sacrifice to use it.
Rest of the build looks good.. hope it bags you a feature!
