I quite like the wheels and the fact they were cheap makes them even better
Hope the oil cooler fixes it ok, headgaskets are never fun!

Re: Project Poverty!!!!
ok so quick update,
fixed on the new oil cooler yesterday and all went well, but still needed to flush some more crud out of the water pipes and run it for wee bit to see if we had fixed the problem, so off i pootle to the shops and back, get home open the bonnet to be confronted with sperts of water coming from a very rusty water pipe, so to GSF I will go and try and get that done tonight,

Some picks of the engine bay,
minus Intercooler
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Finaly got rid of those damed spring clips and will be replacing with jubilees but it took hours to get to this stage because of them,
Water pipe out ready to be replaced
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
And the offending pipe in all its rusty glory,
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I have had to change all of this just to find out weather fitting the new oil cooler has fixed the initial oil in water problem,
WISH ME LUCK! :?

Re: Project Poverty!!!!
all mk2's look better with a 60mm drop but they handle better with a 40mm drop. A way around this is to try and find the thinner poly bonrath top mounts to get that extra 10mm without upsetting the handling.

Re: Project Poverty!!!!
Ok so tonight was the night when we change the water pipe,
so picked up new water pipe which cost me £40 8O as no one makes these besides VW it seems but oooh it is shiney
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
SO off we trot out side and the heavans open so we build a makeshift shelter which worked a treat,
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I had had to paint some of the pipe where it had been chipped and the paint was taking far to long to dry so it went to the Salon in the garage and started to blowdry Thank you Laura my sis for the hairdryer,
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
dad was then beandishing pipe at me,
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
so the Gaffa decided to try and eat him
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
After the clouds cleared and the rain stopped we were rewarded with a compeleet engine and tea and busckit's Thanks to Mum,
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
As for fixing the problem of oil in the water tho its anyones guess :? as there was more gunky oil in the pipes than there was in the engine I think. So, need to give it a good couple of flusshes and run it for a day or two to see weather or not it will need a new head gasket or not :? :?

Re: Project Poverty!!!!
Hello bud a lovely jetta you have there. I have a soft spot for the GTD cracking engine. On the suspention kit front i dont think it would make a great deal of differance if you used that koni kit but if you get in contact with koni directly they will be able to help. If you want a nice suspention kit that wont bust the wallet and will give you a great ride i would go with boge or sachs standard shocks with eibach springs. Speak to big boys toys about that one on 0845 873 7288 the only down side is it will only drop the car by 30mm. Although the koni kits are very very good the kits we fit alot of are FK and we can only give very good reports about them the ride is good and handerling and brakeing really improved plus the price is good too we can supply and fit for around £250 to £300 depending on which kit you go for but that includes new bump stops and top mounts. If you do take on the job yourself make sure you change the bumpstop (cut them down at the rear to the right height to suit the kit you use) and top mounts this will improve steering and stop it failing any mots in the future. Good luck bud.

I would imagine that they are just covering there back's as the diesel lump is quite a bit heavier than other's so may have a shorter life span.
If you dont want big drop'age, then as "dirty" say's the best set-up's are shocks & springs rather than coily's for ride and handling, comfort, ect:.
Sweet ride BTW - Simples -

Re: Project Poverty!!!!
I dont want a massive drop at all, and am looking into the Weitec sets, but have seen on venom some kits by apex and viper something or other which will give me the drop and wont break the bank either, Im also having a 1.9 aaz lump being put in next week and have just dot a set of gti seats and back bench for £60 but they are heavily stained and will take a while to get it all out,
im really looking forward to finally getting to mod the car now i have the cash to do it
