New Mk2 Helios Blue Jetta 16v owner
Hi All,
I am going to be a proud owner of a 1990 Stratos Blue Jetta 1.8 16v tomorrow and thought I add myself to the forum to get advise and assistance from you fellow members.
I have been in the dub scene many years ago, with my first dub being a mk1 golf, then done a vr6 conversion, this is going back about 10 years or so. I then went into the jap scene and the classic mini scene.
But now in the past year went back into the dub scene again, where my passion for cars started.
I own two Corrado's at the moment, one a black 1.8 16v, which is going tomorrow for my Jetta and the other being a nugget yellow with a 1.8T BAM conversion.
So I just want to say a thanks for the join and will upload some pics of the Jetta tomorrow, once I pick it up.
Cheers
Bobby

NO NO leave alone don't put "big bumpers" on it, looks so mint.
The small bumper look is much better (somehow always look a bit "aftermarket" even if proper bits used)
Or maybe I'm a bit strange!!!!!!

Cheers mate for your input, I also decided I am keeping the small bumpers now. Keeps it more retro.
Now I am think what to do with the engine, shall I turbo the KR engine, as I already have the turbo kit or shall drop a VR6 in there?

Re: New Mk2 Helios Blue Jetta 16v owner
personally i would either big bumper it seeing as you already have the trims on.. either way its lovely! Vr's are supposed to be awesome in Jetta's due to the boot.. Though a proper turbo set up on a kr is always amazing!
Re: New Mk2 Helios Blue Jetta 16v owner
Cheers mate, I am going to keep it small bumpered now, as I feel gives it more the retro look.
In regards to the engine:
Basically I want to buy a engine to build in the summer to put into my Mk2 Jetta 16v over the winter of 2014 and stuck on a few choices. I will be keeping my original KR to the side, so if I ever decided to sell, I can keep the originality of the car.
Basically these are the choices i am thinking off:
1. VR6 OBD2 (Supercharge or Turbocharge later)
2. 2.8 V6 24v (Supercharge or Turbocharge later)
3. ABF 2.0 16v Turbocharged
4. KR 1.8 16v Turbocharged
I don't know which one to go for, so can someone shed some light and help on this please?
I also have a Turbo Technics Kit for the KR engine and a Audi S2 Inlet Manifold modified to suit the KR, 9A & ABF.
So I was thinking, if I go down the route of the KR or ABF turbo I can utilize these parts, as I was thinking of using the exhaust manifold from the Turbo Technics Kit and the Audi S2 Inlet manifold and make a turbo kit for either the KR or ABF engine?
Although I a swaying towards the ABF turbo route, as I think the vr6 and 24v will be nose heavy.
Cheers
Bobby
