87' VW Jetta Coupé
Hello, british friends, i'm new at this forum and this is my first post, so i will introduce myself, I'm João Fernandes, 21 years old, almost 4 years in the Dub planet (since i found out what's the real deal LOL) i spend almost 3/4 of all days since 2004 living , breathing and loving Vw's, i live in Portugal, ALgarve (shure that a lot of you guys actually know it).
I'm an Olschool way fan, so i think that the way of knowing of our cars and understand them as nobody else is by building them with our bare hands, and try to improve them everyday of our lifes, with a lot of Research and development by ourselfs.
I was seeking for a MK2 Jetta coupé for almost 7 years (at that time one uncle show me one in some german magazine and i got completely crazy about them, at that time he said something like "forget it.. you will never find one of these in Portugal, they are one of the rarest watercooled vw's in Europe, i've never seen one myself.." at that time i got very disapointed and during several years i amost forgot the holy graal of Mk2 jettas, the time has passed and in 2006 i started my quest after the coupé.. always with no sucess.. one day, in December 2006 i acidentally found this coupé, in preety bad condition, and i commited myself to buy it as soon as possible.. following that i went to pick the car in 7 January 2007.. and that was the beggining of many sleepless nights, many problems and above all many PERSERVERANCE )
Everything in this car (except the Paintjob) was made by me and my uncle in my building's garage by our own hands, it is not perfect, and i have the conscience of that, but at that time, with a very low budget and made by a kid of 20 years .. i think that isn't bad at all..
its enough of cheap conversation..
this is the deal! after 448 days under construction

Re: 87' VW Jetta Coupé
Well mates, it's been a while since my last post here..
I swapped the engine to a 1.9 TDI AFN 110 HP, it still's almost stock (i only fitted TDI 150 turbo VNT1749VB) so it should have about 115 hp now, because i need to fit another injectors and remap the ecu.. then it should be around 180 hp.
here are the pics from the Portuguese Golf club meeting
[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
i must end the engine bay.. all the intercooler pipes should be made in stainless steel, and i have to make a sweet clean up as well, this pics are from the last November.
i will show you some nice pictures of the bay when it is properly finished
regards
