Cheers bud - it'd be even easier if i had a nice warm garage to work in, but at least the shelter is dry! One day i'll have a big garage with a tv, fridge, microwave and settee and i'll be able to spend all night in there
Fitted the spacers earlier after filing the hubs down a little so they fitted nice and flush and put some matching alloys on. Sorted a few niggling problems and then called it a doris for tonight.
Oh, and i've got rid of the plaster cast on my arm too, which is a relief after 9 weeks

Re: MK1 Jetta 2.1 8v - ongoing project
Had a busy weekend - friday i fitted the A pillar trims, rear stud conversion and spacers to the front. Swapped the front grille and sorted some trim out. Had a nice blast over the A59 on friday night to stretch its legs a bit and then spent sat and sun working on it.
Removed, stripped, cleaned, rebuilt and thoroughly waxoyled the rear suspension and got rid of the sloppiness in the rear top mounts, so it feel much tighter now. Also raised it 10mm.
Replaced the filler neck with a stainless one i had knocking about and redid the pipework to the tank. Fitted a new petrol cap and painted the surround panel.
Decided to have a play with the BBS kit i've had for ages - its for a 3dr MK1 Golf, so not a straightforward fit, but after a few hours messing its getting there.
Pics to follow when i can get the laptop to access the internet!

We have internet!
Plenty of roadkill (well, flykill!) after the A59 blast:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Rear suspension stripped and cleaned prior to waxoyling. Happy to say the GAZ coilovers have lasted well, with very little rust which is a relief:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Original and replacement filler necks:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Sorted the filler neck surround which had a little rust and a couple of small holes:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
And repleced the neck to tank rubber pipe, which had to be split and extended with a piece of old filler neck to fit properly:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Finished result - had the alloy cap and surround lying around, so thought i'd fit it for a change:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Started by sizing up the BBS kit:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Which after a lot of cutting and messing around with, fitted a little better:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Will incorporate some ducting for the rear brakes into the leading bottom edge when i've finished shaping them:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Bit of extra girth:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
And as it was earlier:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Done a little reshaping of the front edge near the door eariler, to re-shape them so there's a bigger gap between the tyre and bottom end which brings the bottom of the arch out a bit more, making it wider at the front edge. Will need to fabricate some brackets to keep them in place and the right shape. Quick sand and paint in satin black and they should look ok.
Then need to do the front arches, which need some modding so they meet up nicely with the Kamei front spoiler. That'll probably have to wait till after All Types where its supposed to be in the Retro display.

Re: MK1 Jetta 2.1 8v - ongoing project
Little update, got the rear arches finished and painted over the weekend, re-sealed the rocker cover to stop oil leaking everywhere, sorted some wiring and re-did the pipe for the windscreen washer. Did some other jobs and painted some bits, nothing too exciting though.

Its now running 13mm spacers on each corner. Need them on the front to make the Wellers clear the calipers, and on the rear to fill the arches!. TBH the tyres/wheels look a little skinny now, so eventually i'd like to fit some wider wheels but that'll have to wait.
Wellers need a tidy up before the weekend too. I'll make a start on the front arches sometime soon(ish)

Made it to Inters on sunday, had 5 runs on the strip and managed a best time of 5.8sec 0-60 and 14.4sec quarter:

Should be going to Santa Pod this weekend, so might take it down a 'proper' strip to see how it compares, but need to look after it as supposed to be driving it to MIVW next week!!!

I'm still recovering!!!
Amsterdam for three days was fun (what i can remember) and the show has loads of potential at its new location (first time i've been to MIVW) just a shame about the weather. I also came down with full-on man flu on the friday, so spent most of the time sniffling into a tissue!!!
Would like to go again next year but not stay as long to keep costs down - we did it on the cheap but it could be done even cheaper!
However, i've not been to Woerthersee since 2007 and would like to go back again, and a road trip to Austria via some of the cool roads in northern Italy and a return route via the Ring is one of those things i NEED to do in life while i can
Starting to get VERY excited about this weekend now - i'll get lots of pics and also letting minime have a camera for the trip so he can take his own photos - he's had lessons at school and is actually very good at taking photos, so look forward to see what he can do.
Be patient on the photos though - not back till a week on sunday so will get some up the following week.
P.S. Mods - feel free to move/alter pics to wherever necessary to share with everyone else.

Couple of pics to give you an idea of what the Berg Cup is all about.....

Audi 50 anyone:

And whats under the bonnet:

Unfortunately this Polo didn't end the weekend looking quite so nice:
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
It got stuffed into the barriers on sunday.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Obviously, i wasn't trying to get ideas for a rear diffuser.....or for a front spoiler:

More to come.
