JOC goes to the Nurburgring 10th - 13th April 2009!!

Me, Venturbo, Olive and Popeye starting talking about this a while back and it's about time we put it into action!

So pop your name in here if you would want to come along and an idea of the time of year you think is best!

Ye id be up for it....have to see wether the jetta wud be up for the ring but i have confidence init goin on the trip (after the trip to holland last month)

How many miles roughtly is it to the ring? been to germany before but not that area.

Late spring/early summer wud be best for me (May/June) as funds are low at mo and will have to save lol. But obviously ferrys will be more epxensive as summer sets in.

Would be an epic trip.....

Now here is some information on the prices!

These figures are based on 2008 prices - so they may have changed slightly.

Then we need to get there!

To book a ferry, and you can probably find it cheaper if you shop around, i based a trip leaving on a friday night in april at 11pm and returning on a sunday night / monday morning at midnight.
These aren't my prefered times but just to give an indication

£40 each way (£80 round trip) and this is the usual Dover-Calais ferry with P&O.

AA Route planner tells me it will take 4 hours and 45 miniutes off your life to get there and remove 262 and a half miles of tred from your tires - so thats around 50 more if you have camber like mine! - So i guess thats 2 1/2 tanks really. Unless your Popeye who runs a diesel!

So all in all a 4 lap ticket £49.00
Ferry crossing £80.00
Fuel approx £100.00 (then whatever you burn on the track!)

Not so bad really, probably cheaper for me to go to Nurburg than it was for Manzi to go to Stonor Park!

Then there is food to think about - and i think about food quite a lot! But i guess i will survive of a mixture of junk food and junk food.

What about digs??

Well i am 'Trampy' so i might just sleep in my car! Most of the big service stations out there have showers too you can pay to use! Otherwise we can look at staying somewhere, but just looking at the cheapest option.

Would be more enjoyable to have a base and we can relax and EAT/DRINK and disscus the cruise there and our days racing. Plus wash and change clothes.

Where's the Wigster?? Im sure he and Engela are up for this.

Tips for driving the ring.

Hello boys and girls!!! Finally this subject has been mentioned!! Because I work shifts, I've just been looking at my rota for next year and the best time for me would be Friday 10th - Monday 13th of April. I only get a Friday - Monday off every 8 weeks. I could take holidays but I'm trying to keep as many holidays as I can for the big day in September. Also, Popeye would need plenty of notice on a date as he's recently started a new job and would need to get his holiday form in quite early.

I'm sure you'll let us know though chaps and chapettes!!!

Like trampy, i woudl be happy to sleep in the car..

on my trip to holland 2 weeks ago in the jetta i selp 3 out of 6 night in the jetta with 2 mates (couped up on drivers seat, wasnt too bad)

i used 5 tanks of fuel in total doing 1200mile (inc 180mile run each way from dover to my house) (admitted around 200-300 mile was at 90-100mph )
fuel on the continent isnt as cheap s it used to be and on most of the motroway stations it was kmore than the uk (€1.35 at some, €1.27 lowest)

Regardign the ferry, the cheapest times are like between 12-4am, i shopped around with times etc and got 55 quid return for a weeks trip - ferrys fares have been realy cheaop this year!! i got one back in feb for like £15!!!


told my old man bout the trip ealier he expressd an interest in taking his mk3 golf vr6 (us spec) and takign it roudn the ring!! (that is if he can afford the fuel lol)

Quite a few signign up now......where would we all meet up? dover? most of you are all north of me right? (minus stari and t-stare)

You sleep quite easily anywhere anyway so I'll more than gladly have a bed to myself for the night and you can sleep in the car. It'll give me a break from you're snoring and twitching anyway!!!

What about tryin to work it around the wothersee show its normally around may time, biggest dub show there is(practically a week long from start to finish) topped off with the best track u can drive on?

Jedi that sounds like a really good idea. I am really keen to do this and if I had a list of things to do before I die this would defo be on there. Just not sure if I will have chance to fit this in next year, things are already getting very busy and booked up. I would need a date as soon as possible and see what I can do.
