hi there just joined the site. im from brighton and i have two jetta's a 1.6 and a gti 2.0 16v (engine from a carrdo)

didnt chose the exuast came with it and new i was getting a valver soon so have not bothered to change it.
the valver was on ebay couple of weeks ago, its got a blown gearbox. won it for £520

Some sweet cars ya got there chap welcome on board

right decided to go up to tadley (near basingstoke) to go get the 16v jetta today, eventually found it fine. swapped money and papers, all fine. then get 20 miles down the road and the steering starts going to the left, though is was weird but carried on. then about a minute late bang. bloody punture, nearly new tyres on nearside front had shredded it self. the ronal was fine luckily. so started geting jack out and such, then noticed it had locking wheel nuts, then start thinking oh chiz have we got the key, turns out no we hadnt the bloke still had it. so of my dad goes to go and get the key. he got back swapped on the lovley space saver, yay!.

Then on the way again, pulled in at fleet 1 mile up road, turned engine off, oh chiz again no electrics at all, luckily aa van parked in car park so went over to get him to come have a look. turned out battery was completly and utterly gone. so he jumps starts it for me. then he tells us to go to camberly motor factors and says to tell them he sent us and they will get us a good deal on a new battery. so went there, bloody huge place, got a good deal, swapped the batteries, on the way again.

then as we are join the m3 the gearbox problem it had showed up in the form of some lovley whinning, but we carried on at 60 all the way to brighton with no problems at all. at one point had it up to 49.5 mpg so very pleased about that.

all in all not the best way to get a new car but it home.
also just taken it out for a quick run and omg it is insane! lol

all is good. journy back is always worrying one. mine was from oxford so alot of motorways for me.

my last journyback was nerve racking had to follow my dad while he was driving the car back from me, insurance was an issue etc :S still the car made it as did my dad woo
