got myself a white jetta 1.8 GL for a runner after having the Polo stolen, had the Jetta for 2 months and last thu8rsday, a lorry hit the back of it, and sent me spining and hit a curb at 30mph sideways.

some pics anyways, had big plans, but no more!

thats what i thought, but i cant do any mechanic work, and the mechanic said it would be2-3 hours work, so i need to get the part, get the car towed 60 miles to the garage where i always go, have it fixed, and re mot it, and re register, as it is not a cat D insurance write off!

plus they say they are not sure if the car is even straight!

i'm hating it right now, i was so happy with it, had huge plans for it, low, simple and sopme sick rims!

was 1 owner from new, garaged all its life with dehumidifier, and always VW parts used and nothing else!

if its another beam your getting its a case of disconnecting the handbrake cables from the drums and the brake pipes then there is 3 bolts either side to lower the beam but dont forget to take out the rear shocks from the beam aswell. once thats done it a case of out with the old and in with the new and reconnect everything you previously disconnected. sounds easy but its not. i reckon its about 3-4 hours work from start to finish.

if its being done at a garage they have use of ramps which i didnt have access to so it should be done quicker.
i was using jacks and axle stands when me and my mates fitted one. not a nice job under the circumstances.
hope the jetta makes a full recovery soon
