Hi - Newbie from Northern Ireland!
Hi Folks,
I'm Noel from Northern Ireland. Currently own a 1991 Jetta 1.6GX in Tornado red with 2 owners from new and 65k miles.
I run a small business called mintdubs selling mostly MK2 Golf GTi's, although I also buy and sell other low miler VW's from the same era. Its more like a hobby (certainly not my day job!) but I love handling these cars as the good ones always impress.
The first car I owned was a mk1 polo 1300 and the first car I bought myself was a 1990 1.3 Jetta with 95k in maritime blue, base spec. I loved that car and ran it for another 60k miles, even after it was stolen I put it back on the road and it just ran and ran!
My current Jetta is going to be a 2nd car for the family. I bought it standard last year and to be honest it has sat doing nothing for almost 10 months. We are having a big VW event in Northern Ireland on 2nd Dec., Volkswinter, and I am getting it ready for the show.
As it stands I have added a brand new set of 15" G60's with flush centre caps and huge 205 verdestein tyres! It probably needs lowered but I have a look in mind and I am happy with the comfort. Also fitted clear indicators and have just bought a set for the rear.
Other treats include a set of pressed german plates, wolfsburg plate holders, a leather vw steering wheel and a roof rack to follow. Want to keep it as OE as possible as I just love the look!
So, not on here as a trader, just as a like minded Jetta fan eager to share your experience and enjoy running my own car and showing it off a bit too!
Cheers,
Noel --

Cheers Pal,
Im very proud of her, aside from a few tiny surface scabs and a couple of small trolley dents she is mint.

Re: Hi - Newbie from Northern Ireland!
Hi noel,
I'm also from N.I. and have a 1984 MK1 which I am trying to restore at the moment.
Haven't heard of this Volkswinter event, any more details as I would like to go along and talk to other early Jetta enthusiasts.
Alex

Re: Hi - Newbie from Northern Ireland!
Hi Alex,
The show is being held at Mount Stewart, the National Trust property just outside Newtownards.
To the best of my knowledge it starts at 11am and goes on until 2.30 with a cavalcade from there to pier 36 (a restauraunt) in Donaghadee.
Its open to all VAG cars. Have a look at the website, [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Its going to be a great day, so have a look at the site and if you have any questions, get in touch with Fi who is the organiser of the whole event - her details are on the website.
You should also have a look at clubgti.net, the local NI VW club. I am a member of this and all the guys are very passionate about their cars, although you could possibly be the only member with a MK1 Jetta! I am one of a few MK2 jetta owners! The forum is a great place for information so by all means come along and register and introduce yourself in the new member section.
Any pics of your car?
Cheers,
