My MK2 TX
Hi All,
Whats the best thing to do when you have a hang over? Yeap that's right all the stuff you've been putting off.
Had to clean the Jetta and take pics for the insureance, so went out yesterday, just me and my hang over and cleaned, polished and took pics. Here is the end result.

Need to sort the rust out. Just need to find someone willing to help and show me how. Its the only real bit on her, the rest is just stone clips.

Re: My MK2 TX
Went to the local body shop. They said £350, I thought that was a little high.
The rust has gone all the way though, so it would be a new panel.
What do you think?

[You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
Just hope they fit, if they don't then they might fit my wifes polo or my polo.
Picking them up in a weeks time, so will let you know.

Re: My MK2 TX
Nice jetta mate. Personally Id look into prices for a full respray, its quite hard to match in paint on an older car and it will just bug you if it isnt a great match. You'll get more for your money if you get everything done at the same time, I paid £1300 for a full spray and all the smoothing done (all minor dents, wiper gromits, ariel, side repeators, rear badges and rear panel welds), shop about and get reccomendations from folk that have had work done x
Re: My MK2 TX
£12 for some bottle tops? cant go wrong can you! wear em down to usa specs and chuck em away after no bother! mad i recon!! 5/10 years time these will prob be cool and worth hundreds!!!!

Re: My MK2 TX
@Fanjetta - Yeah I would love a full respray, however will need to spend a good time saving. I spotted a new rear panel which made me think about replacing the whole thing, we'll see.
@Rowlesy - I hadn't even spotted they looked like bottle tops, oh well better than the rusty steels on there now.

Re: My MK2 TX
Hi All,
It's been a while since I posted and I haven't posted any updates so I thourght I would update you all on the progress of the project.
Work done since Nov.
Rear wheel barings replaced *
N/S CV Boot replaced *
N/S Headlight alignment *
Oil sump seal replaced
Sump plug replaced
Oil filter bracket gasket replaced
Rocker cover gasket replaced
Serviced (Sparks, Oil, Oil filter)
Fitted centeral locking and remote access control
(* Needed to pass the MOT)
This weekend I removed the wheel arch trims and the front spoiler ready for a good rub down and respry. 20 years of sun and rain have taken thier toll on them and they are more gray than black.
Up on removing the arch trims I was pleased to find that the arch's are in farly good condition. The worst is pictured below, I don't think it will take much to sort.

I gave the spoiler a clean and rub down, then hung it and gave it a quick spray.

What a difference, still need to give it a few more coats.

I also removed the carb with the view of replacing the rubber flange between it and the intake, however when it came to fitting the new one I found GSF had given me a different one. I found this out at 4:30 two and half hours after they closed. I can't put the old one back on as it's in a really bad way. Back to GSF Monday to see if they have the right one, if not the Bay has the right one for me.
Still not fitted the bottel tops as I need to replace all the tyres and need to save up.
Will update you all when I have more.

Re: My MK2 TX
Hello Again...
Well I went back to GSF and replaced the Carb Flange, can you tell from the picture below which one is the new one?
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I'm hoping to fit it tomorrow, should help with the poor running. Next thing to sort out is the warm air feed. If anyone has one laying around please PM me.
I thourght I would also post pictures of my speaker build. I must pay credit to my little bro, as he did all the work while I was in the car running the wires from the amp.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
More updates soon as I have just bought all bits needed to sort out the rust on the arches.
