new in the house
hi all,picked up a 91 mk2 jetta a few weeks ago its an auto with 61,000 on the clock
it sits very low ,which is going to be a pain with all the speed bumps around here ,needs a few bits sorting
out like dam heather does not get warm ,any suggestion ,were is the thermostat on these are located its a 1.8 with pas

Hello and welcome , If you follow the two coolant pipes that go to and from the heater matrix there are two black inline valves with a small hose connecting them, these were part of a VW recall years ago and are notorious for failing and stopping the heaters working, The thermos stat is in the bottom of the water-pump behind the PAS pump so that has to come off to gain access to it

They went obsolete a few years back they were fitted as a safety precaution due to the heater matrix's popping and dumping hot coolant into the footwells, I bypassed mine with two bits of copper pipe instant heat restore
