Great work, Tom (You're not "the" Tom Novy are you LOL) Just how hard was it to respray your alloys? It's just I have a set of the standard Mk2 steel wheels sitting in my Mum's garden, and I want to paint them in white to match my mate's Jetta for him. Cheers : )

Re: My Jetta GX
Sad to say im not "the" tom novy lol just a nick names & online alias of mine for the last 8 years or so
i didnt find it that hard to paint my wheels, they are not exactly "paintshop" finish but they do the job. first i made sure i gave them all a good rub down, i put two coats of primer & two coats of respol orange with a satin finish. this was all done with aerosol cans so make sure you have a steady hand

Re: My Jetta GX
so i had a day off & i thought i might pop down to halfords & treat my beloved jetta to a bottle of T Cut .
after a hour and a half of T-Cutting the Jetta's Blue is really starting to shine again

Cheers for the advice, "Tom" Did you bother to lacquer the wheels? And what do you think would look better on the standard Jetta steel wheels - white, silver or black? (My mate's Jetta is white BTW)

Re: My Jetta GX
i didnt lacquer my wheels as i wanted a flat finish to the orange.
well if your mates jetta is white I would personally go for black. my old mondeo was white with black wheels & it worked well
would love to see some pics of your mates jetta

I'll try and get it out of his lock-up, and then I'll take a few "snaps" of it. That's if I can get the wheels put on it, as it's sitting on it's brakes ATM

Re: My Jetta GX
Sorry to double post, but I have been wondering if Tom has been thinking about colour-coding the rubbing strips on the side of his car, so they match his wheels? Just a thought! : )

Re: My Jetta GX
hmmm thats an idea, but i think im set with the orange, i like the how the side repeaters & the front indicators look with the wheels,
think im gonna focus on an engine next, might just chuck a 8v gti engine in with a very lumpy cam and poss webers ......... oh and a few more turns on the coilovers
