my mint mk2 8valve gti in silver #update, 17/05/07
as promised, a few shots of my jetta!
the car (although dirty, and not the best pics), is immaculate, covering only 55,000 since 1987, and is the only jetta gti I know of in silver, and even vw's records cant find another!
Ive not strayed too far from standard with it, just fitted fk coilovers, a set of audi A3 pepperpot alloys with a polished rim, and fk hub adapters, a full jetex exhaust, a shchrick cam, changed the lights etc, and put a late spec interior in, and loads of polish!!!
let me know what you think!

Did you put that black winyl on the pillar? Or is it stock? I thought they were put on after the face lift. Or was I wrong?
Car looks nice. Although I would paint the centercaps black as well
And what's that on the front bumper? "ZYW"? What's that?

Re: my mint mk2 8valve gti in silver #update, 17/05/07
the writing on the bumper is due to it being a scrapyard bumper, having parked my car outside a mates house whilst I decorated for her, cam out, and someone had ripped the bumper off, so this is a temporary fix until I get all new ones, if I can find a decent rear bumper!
anyone know of a straight rear small bumper going spare?
I keep thinking about the centre caps on the wheels, might have to paint them black seeing as a few of you guys think they would look better black!
cheers for the comments guys, Im keeping the car simple and standard(ish), for now anyway!

This is a great looking car.
And i agree the centre caps'd look better colour coded.
These are stick on side strips? If i had stick ons i'd un-stick em in a flash, i love the smooth look! But that's just me.

Re: my mint mk2 8valve gti in silver #update, 17/05/07
as far as Im aware, the vinyl on the pillars is factory, or at least I didnt put it there! could well be wrong though, as my old 90 spec jetta gti had them too!
got a few updates to come:
I have just taken delivery of an immaculate pair of chrome trimmed small bumpers ready to go on
Ive lost the centre caps for the moment, looks good without me thinks!
I am also chasing a couple of grey leather interiors to fit in the near future
are these side trims just stuck on? if so, then I shall be removing them

Re: my mint mk2 8valve gti in silver #update, 17/05/07
well, a few updates on the jetta front, Ive added chrome trimmed bumpers, after a hell of a lot of searching, these turned up in yorkshire, and Im in kent!
Ive also fitted a mk2 golf gti greay leather interior, with rear headrests, this was picked up for peanuts, and I have to say, once the fiddling of getting it in was over, it looks the nuts!
Ive also taken to running the audi pepperpots without centre caps, and I have to say, I quite like the look!
what do you all think?

Re: my mint mk2 8valve gti in silver #update, 17/05/07
Looks great with that bumer. Now you need a new grille with a chrome stripe around it
Re: my mint mk2 8valve gti in silver #update, 17/05/07
Im quite fond of the gti badged grille to tell you the truth!
but I may go for a chrome rimmed grille, as they are in stock at my local VAG scrappie!
I definately need to get rid of the red stripe in the rubbing strips, but as its a daily driver, I want to keep the rubbing strips themselves!
