Hi from a newbie

Just signed up and thought I'd say hi.
Picking up my first jetta (project) in a couple of days so will no doubt be picking your brains soon enough.
Into aircooled but not had much experience of older watercooled (had a mk1 golf gti in the past & the mrs runs a passat sport).
The car is an '88 8v gti in silver I got off a mate. Been stood 10 years. Currently a non runner due to the external fuel pump failing but I think it's got good potential. Body is great apart from a tiny bit of welding needed in one rear door shut and it's a bit damp inside. First mission is carpets out, a good clean up and get it running
