hi there just thought id say hello
i have just brought a jetta gti 16v small bumper 1988 so i thought id register on the site and say hello im new to the jetta scene i used to have a mk1 golf gti and was on the campaighn register
as i brought the car he said it was pretty rare is this true as im still learning about the jetta stuff as iv always been a ford nut

reminds me of my old 8v,e reg and very similar,i think 16v is rare these days,especially good examples,
keep us posted of your plans for the valver!

Welcome aboard buddy yes the 16v is a rare beast we've only got one or two others registered i think. have you got big plans she looks nice and original looks tidy mate

the plans are to keep it lookin standard and taking off the gti badges and getting the following things
twin 45s already got them in the shed
shrick 268* cams
tsr stainless 4 branch + system
and lower it
and maybe strip the rear and put a cage innit for track days
carnt decide wether to drop it 60mm or 40mm what do you think
and im having problems finding exhaust systems for it anyone got any ideas

welcome along looks like you have the same colour jetta 16v as me now! its a 1990 also an 1988 16v like you in jade green lol.
look like it could b a really nice car, if you want to increase the bhp relitively cheaply, look out for a 2.0li block from an audi (6A) or a passat (9A) pretty much a straight swap for your blok but with about 20bhp more, depending how handy you are in the garage can be pretty cheap, got mine for about £100 i think

195/50x15 cheaper than 45s and easier to get a hold of
disco- 2.0 TDI - 170ps!

195/45/15s may be a little more pricey than 50s but its worth it to avoid scrubbing the arches.
I had 40 drop all round on my jetta at first and the front sat too high so should be fine with 60/40 springs.
