Hi All:

My son want me to buy a Jetta. Should I? They seem very nice but what is their repair record?

They are made in Germany buddy. And if i had LOADSSSSSS OFFFFFFFFFF MONEYYYYYY i'd have a garage full of them.

I bought my MK2 Jetta for £450 quid and its the best bit of money I've spent on a car.

Hi there buddy and welcome to the booty club Very Happy you have a different setup in Canada and a much larger range to choose from what sort of age Jetta are you looking to get? you were probably told that because the Mk1 was still made in Mexico untill very recently

Hi Egarnet! As far as I know all new MK5 Jettas are made in Mexico. I have one and is still in manufacturers warranty but can say I have not had ANY reliabilty issues whatsoever, unlike some French cars I've had in the past! The only other useful comment I could make is that here in England most of the VW dealers that I know are extremely professional and really go out of their way to help you which counts for a lot so if any problems did arise you can be assured of the best service possible. Hope this helps you choose VW Jetta!!!

Yes, My 07 jetta is assembled in Mexico. I think the Wolfsburg Editions are still made in Germany, but not positive. scratch

Some of the issues we face here in the United States include:

Rear brakes - lasting 20k- Kinda normal for Jetta- Aftermarket pads can help
2.5l 5 speed Transmissions- A trend seems to be starting on some
A/C compressors
Peeling Window Switches / Radio surround / Radio buttons

I have had the rear brake issue, but otherwise, The Jetta is the best car I have owned...
cheers
