57 reg Jetta SE
I bough a 57plate VW Jetta last week, i took it back to the dealers yesterday because everytime i drive over a speed bump the car clicks and clacks no matter if i have been driving for 5 mins or 50 mins. The dealer has confirmed that this is just the way the VW Jetta is made, that the shock absorbers make this noise at all time when going over speed bumps.
What i wanted to ask you all....is if this is the case? Or is my dealer just trying to fob me off. i have paid alot of money for this car and expected alot more. I have owned many cars and have not experience this before with any of them, from hot hatches to big family cars. However this is my first 4 door saloon so is the case with this type of vehicle
Please help.

Re: 57 reg Jetta SE
I don't accept that - you are being fobbed off. Find another dealer with a Jetta and take that one out and then compare and try and get a second opinion from the other dealer. I get no knocking from mine.

Re: 57 reg Jetta SE
i have driven both 56 & 57 plate jettas, & are both "silent" inside,
personally i think the dealer is just fobbing you off,
you could either try visiting another vw dealer or speak with trading standards, as your car will have full dealer waranty,
i think you need to take this further,

Re: 57 reg Jetta SE
I don't know what a 57 reg is.
But on the newer MK5 series, several people have had problems with loose sub-frame bolts that cause some clicking. The Strut bearings are also a possible cause.
Hope that helps.

I suppose the cleaners wear the same clothes as the sales men/woman and/or mecanics at your dealer
