mrbungle's new Jetta
Well some of you may remember my previous jetta experience that went up in smoke!! So i've got myself another. Its a 1.3 this time and pretty basic-with no alloys or anything. I bought her for £250 off ebay with tax and mot so it meant i could use her straight away.
this is how she looked when i first got her.

Note the 3 different hubcaps and 1 stock wheel! I had to remove these to uncover the rest of the stock wheels! There is also a lot of badly patched up rusty bits where someone has painted over them with silver hamerite-hasn't come out too well on the pictures! She leaks oil but looks like a rocker cover gasket

Re: mrbungle's new Jetta
I've had her since November but not posted anything in here yet. she has since been jet washed, all plastic parts covered in blacking polish, she's been clayed and polished with silver T-cut and looks a bit better. But i've had to replace the battery and put new bushes in the alternator which seems to have improved the poor starting.

Re: mrbungle's new Jetta
Took the front clip and trim off the car today. Both very rusty. I stripped the paint off both and got a coat of red primer + zinc onto them before it went dark. they'll probably get stone chip painted and then the silver paint on top of that. The bottom panel was quite bad and could do with replacing but it'll do for now. One step closer to it looking better.

Re: mrbungle's new Jetta
These bits are still not finished, when the weather picks up i'll get the final coat and clear coat on them.
Bagged myself some bargain alloys off ebay for £20-Old style scala wheels. 2 of them had brand new dunlops on. I had a spare budget tyre on anither alloy so this got put on 1 of the new alloys and another budget tyre purchased. I think they make the car look loads better!

Re: mrbungle's new Jetta
I had a frayed pipe coming out of the rocker cover:

Thanks to Jett.i for the info!!
So i removed the pcv part and the t-piece tube was truly knackered:

But on a wet Sunday I couldn't find a shop to help me replace it. Best choice was to apply some glue to the offending item to fill in the degraded bits and fit a new piece of tube to it with a connector.

Re: mrbungle's new Jetta
So the car has been sent for its first MOT with me! Fingers crossed! But on the way there i've got the oil pressure light and buzzer coming on! AARGH! Something else to sort out. Could this have something to do with my 'fix'? Saying that it does need a oil change etc.

Re: mrbungle's new Jetta
She failed!! She needs a new battery tray welding in, a central exhaust mount, and a rear wheel bearing. Not too bad could be miles worse. Its going to cost me £125 for it all, which isn't that bad considering I can't weld(yet). Get it back on Thursday.
The only thing is the welder is going to put plates in for the battery tray and i'd like to have the proper panel-i may have to source one if I can.
