New acquisition
Hi everyone
Ive just joined the site after my dad and i recently bought a mk2 jetta 16v. We already have 3 other golfs - 2 mk1s and a mk2 16v with the same 1.8 KR as the jetta.
As you can see from the pics, the jetta has been abused rather than used over the years which is a real shame because it was actually cherished by the previous owners father before she owned it. Anyway, we bought it in the knowledge that it needed a new radiator and some attention from a vw enthusiast.
So here it is, with 76700 miles on the clock and very tired paintwork (oh, and the obligatory broken jetta GTI 16v badge) and, with some TCUT and autoglym on the front wing you can see the difference already

Heres my dad polishing the wing

We took the car out today for a little drive and i was expecting it to be a fair bit slower than the 16v golf, considering the weight and all, but it felt like an aboslute animal in comparison. I love it!
Heres the other cars for good measure
mine

Re: New acquisition
Welcome mate, what a lovely pair of early mk1's. Certainly looks like you picked up a good Jetta with such low mileage, pretty rare to get rear headrests too.

Re: New acquisition
thanks
rare headrests eh? (starts writing ebay advert lol)
i though it was quite weird that the jetta didnt come with central locking or electric windows, but dad said thats down to the age of it.
We fixed the rad btw, the woman had been running the car for months with an knocking fan run by a switch, and we replaced it straightaway with one from the breakers, works a treat now! Pads all round will be next job after paint resto though
Out of interest, how many of the small bumper valvers are on here?
