we should do a photo shoot

It would be better to get all members and there cars together.
I cant see why 1 (ONE) day in your life and a good run out to make and meet new friends in the same club that your supposed to be supporting???? and see all the vehicles together.
Yes fuel is expensive at the moment and it would be a very long drive for some people, myself included but this could be in a couple of months and give everyone chance to put a little cash to one side? Take the family, weekend away, ect. As mentioned above incorporate a rolling road session, Theme Park, weekend camping, vw event????

making it a weekend thing would be better, BUT tbh i dont think my daughter (year and a half) would be too impressed with sitting in a car for a possible 3-6 hour drive (dependant on where the location is) plus the price of fuel for that would take a big dent into making it possible really. plus were actually saving for a proper holiday as well. and i meant hold say 3 a year or something? or for next year all try to get to just ONE vw show/event to get one huge photoshoot.

Right im feeling this idea and im gonna propose a few ideas then we can choose from there

Idea 1
firstly i was contacted by a VW forum running a big fat tour type thing however it was more of a cannon ball run from scotland to cornwall now thats my initial idea a JOCuk point to point to point if you like

Idea 2
Secondly two events both on seperate days one bang in the middle up north and a second bang in the middle down south

Idea 3
my final option is one big meet in the most central point in the uk somewhere in the midlands

we would need to choose the location and gather numbers as its not worth doing unless there are at least ten people as we are so widely spread.

idea 1 would be phat IF we could all make it, and get vw mags and a load of other forums involved too? only thing with that is, not sure about anyone else but i have never taken my jetta much further than a 50 mile trip let alone one end of the country to the other lol. and i guess it all depends when the two meets were to be if they were the ones chosen? dont want anything too close to xmas etc cos xmas gets costly enough as it is without having to go on long drives to meets etc lol.

ive had a thought. in august the is vw action and ed38 over a 3/4 day weekend if everyone can go i know im going to go to both, can get there then why not do it then?

i'm good for most but i work nites at a takeaway. i'll travel as well since i discovered that i could get down to thrapston on £15-20 petrol.

It's alright, the rear brakes don't do much anyway. Use some mole grips to clamp the line to stop it leaking.

With repect to a shoot, I appreciate that everyone doesn't live in the same place so in order to justify the costs incurred it would have to be an event that offered good 'value' to all.

Now a large show such as ed38 is a good venue as many people would be attending anyway. However I feel that a JOC shoot would be somewhat lost amidst, and no disrespect to anyone, a sea of highly polished, trailered, pure show machines. Especially as there is a bit of a 'scene' feel.

An event that echoes the reasons why we drive the booted beasts would be more applicable, such as track day or RR day. The point to point events are fun, but you do spend 90% of your time driving the cars and not socialising.

I've made my suggestion for a venue and possible acitivity, I have further ideas about subsidising fuel costs for people that live at the extremities. If people want this to be a goer, there has to be a firm descision and no chelping if it doesn't suit. This is suppose to be fun, not hard work.

Hello everybody...

Why not stick a post up of all the people that would be interested in having one gigantic meet. kind of like a signing up sheet so that everybody knows how many people would want to be a part of it.
Obviously it needs to be more than a handful of cars but this forum has alot of members and it would be good if the JOC cars had their own standalone event that would be recognised.
I think a meet bang in the centre is the most reasonable idea because that allows everyone less hours in the seat overall (kinda Fair). But if we knew how many people wanted to be apart of it and found out it was alloottt! Then that would kinda give everyone the drive to screw what it would cost and enjoy it for what it is.. If its annually, then its one worthwhile cost yearly.. + the longer the drive.. the bigger the convoy

I know i'm new here but I still think that a club that seems as well supported as this by its members on line should be able to muster up enough people to travel for a Photo-shoot/RR Day/Mag feature type meeting. Come on there are always features in the (Sorry for swearing) Ford & Vauxhall Mags......

Might be a good idea to run a forum poll to get genuine feed back as to the numbers of people and location.

I'm based just north of Nottingham, i'd travel anywhere if it meant there was a chance of getting my car in a National Mag.
