Looks nice mate. Sorry to be thick but what does "detailing" actualy involve? I can obviously see the difference it made though!

ya detailing is a stupid term i have got in to the habit of using.

basically what i did was:
1.wash it twice with meg's gold class shampoo
2.clayed it with meg's
3.two coats of meg's paint resorer
4.auto glym deep shine
5. auto glym seal and left that for 45 mins before buffing off
6.two really good coats of meg's gold class wax

this year i will do the same but i might take it up to work and wet sand it one weekend and then do what i said above.

because im an aprentice in the body shop it's becoming all to tempting to respray the bloody thing and i know i shouldnt so maybe wetsanding it will keep me happy for now lol.
anyways thanks for all the comments and i stripped the bottom end to day and steammed cleaned it so ill start puttin my progress up

thanks again

hey right hes one big update im sorry for the size but here goes

the engine spec:

2.0l passat bottom end and box
1.8 gti head ported polished and enlaged inlet and exhaust valves
kent 278 degree cam
rare motersport delortto 40 carbs
custom inlet manifold
4 branch
full custom powerflow stainless 2.5 exhaust
16v brakes which at some point will get grooved disks and goodridge hoses
polished mk3 rocker cover
fast road clutch
short shift

hers how far ive got in the last few months
painted the bottom end
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
stripped and painted the carbs
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

the head with the cam and inlet manifold fitted but will have to be stripped again for the enginers[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

my little hidy hole
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

a mountain of crap that is gathering for this[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

now for the bodywork, ive filled all the dents and put stopped in the deep scratches.
removed the plastic arches and only found minimal rust luckly lol. so the plan is is i have just got hold of a replacment rear arch to cut of what i need to weild in over the hole and a new front wing. the guy at work hows teachin me bodywork and paintin is goin to show how to flair an arch with a hammer weve had a bit of practice on some old merc wings and they came out fine so lets hope and pray, and then im gonna respray the hole bloody thing in the same helious blue but with a chiz load extra laquer.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

small bumpers back on im tryin to get hold of some withe the crome stripps in but i know that ant gonna happen

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

and complte with a crappy back box so i can get to the rear valance

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

and this is how far i am now

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

and another of the carbs
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

the head still needs to go to the enginers so hasnt been painted yet, i just need the service stuff and a few more bits and the lump will be done i hope. all the valver brakes are sittin in the pile of crap waitin to be sorted out

slowly gettin there just wish i had more cash hahahaha

thanks for lookin

lucky it all came apart ok but i though would be a really good idea is to put all the nuts and bolts in to one box and all the parts in to a pile while everything was painted, so when it came to build it back up i would learn more because i would have to fuigure everything out. all ill say is big mistake the majoraty went on ok put i spent a week searchin the net and every book i could to find out about 1 bracket and how it fitted, turns out i didnt need it as it was the power steering bracet lol. but i love a challenge.
lol.
