Thought I'd post some pictures of my girlfriends bora 1.8T, This was when we bought her back in july 2006

Since then no real major changes other than a V6 front splitter and FK air intakes will hopefully have sprayed the debadged grill and got on for Stonor

Thought it was time to update this abit, had it mapped by JBS at inter08 had already fitted a K&N panel filter and a dump valve and some R32 replicas prior to this 4x4 anyone?

fitted some lowering springs to sort out the tractor ride height here she is at Stonor in 09

put her on the dyno at spring fest09 as i wasn't allowed down the quarter mile:( and to our suprise she made 229bhp with 284lbs of torque

changed the air box for a cold air intake kit and debadged the bum

things stayed like this through most of 2010 till a kerb incident killed two of the wheels two weeks before going on holiday(how not to make yourself popular with your girlfriend) lots of frantic late nights changing a hub,wishbones for new ones with s3 bushes(due to being bent and worn out, cupra r top mounts, track rod ends and cv joints got it back on the road, had it tracked the morning we set off

I started changing bulbs for led ones gets addictive

sidelights and interior lights have been done now as well
managed to get an S3 strutbrace of fleabay for a nice price well a lot less than the dealers anyway

really helps tighten up the steering which can be pretty vague on the mk4's
which brings us upto to the most recent changes

polybushed dogbone mount makes tickover interesting but the difference in perfomance for £20 is day and night
deleted the N249 valve and replaced the perished breather pipes

and finally changed the worn out disks and pads and fixed the pad wear sensor after it had been beeping for nearly 6 months

And this weekend started to get bitten by the retrim bug

done both the a pillars in mine as well, B and C pillars next on both cars just need more material, mines gonna be the guinea pig for the headlining then we'll see with the Bora watch this space Laughing

Well as I mentioned in my jetta thread things didn't go according to plan recently when the Bora went to our friends garage, he was reversed into in a car park on his way to his garage, the damage isn't as bad as first thought but still not looking good though

The most worrying picture was the one above the bodyshop two units up from our mechanic said it looked like bits have shifted behind the bumper skin they were reckoning on around £800-£1000 and that's not even using all genuine parts Crying or Very sad
Thankfully the other party admitted full liability and paid out for the repair in cash which saved the car from potentially falling into the hands of the insurance company, so after sourcing a new genuine bumper, headlight, crash bar and bumpstrip the repair process could begin, hats off to the guys at the bodyshop at first we thought they might have to replace the wing they were able to repair the original heres how it looked after the bonnet and wing had been painted

New headlight stands out a bit though just the bumper to go back on
It took a little bit longer to finish than expected as my mate wasn't happy with the paint on the bumper and the bump strip when it came back from the body shop! so he sent it back for them to sort out which delayed the new pressed plates going on which he had organized as a surprise for my missus which in turn stopped from him being able to get it mot'd, The exhaust is now on (thanks again Elie) which took alot of patience and foul language by all accounts, this is the fabled exhaust that the car was going in for originally

Car is now home I'll get some pictures when the rain stops!!! the exhaust seems to made an improvement on the pick up when on boost Laughing although I was hoping it would sound a bit more sporty but can't moan too much for a £60 ebay win, which leaves me to say Happy New Year everyone and all the best for 2013 cheers

Cheers bud, I'm not sure what make the springs were it dropped around 40-50mm when they were fitted originally although the suspension is crying out for an overhaul now Laughing I was looking at budget sets of coilovers jom, fk etc but after having joms on the back of my jetta and from what my mate recommends who's done a lot of coilover/air ride installs I'd go for something like wietecs or ap's

Yeah I'd love to have a set of coilies, but I cover 80-90 miles a day and my missus family live up in skeg and mine are up in Newcastle and Harrogate so proppa smash out some mileage and was thinking that springs might keep the ride a touch more comfortable. But I've not had them before so I don't really know lol

If you're not worried about smashing sumps then you cant really go wrong with Eibach springs with Koni dampers

Read it back and realized i worded that completely wrong Rolling Eyes , If you go low 50mm+ on coils then your sumps at risk, but for ride comfort and ultimately handling the koni's with the eibachs, if want to go more than 40mm then its coilies alot of people use jom's or Fk's over on ukmkiv's best bet is to see if you can go out in a couple of cars with different setups to see which you prefer Very Happy

Yeah that's why I was thinking that the springs and shocks were a better idea Very Happy and I don't wanna go to crazy with lowering it, that's why I have the jetta lol I didn't realise that I'd have to change the shocks too so that's a good little nugget of info lol!
